Nature-based Solutions in Asia: Role of wetlands for climate change and disaster risk reduction

Pourquoi assister à cette session?
This session will offer an opportunity for sharing experiences and understanding of Nature-based Solutions and case studies of traditional / local Ecosystem-based approaches to disaster risk reduction related to wetlands in Asia. HideDescription
This session will describe and discuss Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and case studies of traditional / local Ecosystem-based approaches to disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR) related to wetlands in Asia. The Eco-DRR is recognized as one of examples of NbS to specific societal challenges. As the number of disasters increases globally and the damage has expanded, Eco-DRR draws attention. Due to the impact of climate change and other factors, the number of disasters has increased worldwide. Especially, the Asian region is the most affected area in the world regarding the number of disasters, the number of deaths, and the amount of damage. In these circumstances, wetlands could be a natural buffer against an increasing number of disasters. This session will provide an opportunity for understanding this new concept through introducing case studies and discussion.
