The high-level event will be making the case for a new "climate/biodiversity deal" advocating for a fair share of climate/biodiversity funding directed towards the Congo Basin rainforests. Protection and sustainable use of the Congo Basin ecosystems for an adequate share of international funding.

This high-level event is convened by the COMIFAC and ECCAS with the Support of CBFP, CAFI, GIZ and IUCN. It aims to showcase the COMIFAC countries' efforts in the field of conservation, sustainable management and their contribution to the fight against climate change and to promote the Declaration of ECCAS/COMIFAC countries aiming for a new “Climate Deal” for the Congo Basin as a cost-effective Nature-based Solution. Protection and sustainable use of their forests in exchange for an adequate share of international climate and biodiversity funds. This high-level side event will bring together the ministers of ECCAS/COMIFAC member countries, Ministers of CBFP Donor countries and High-Level Representatives of climate/biodiversity finance mechanisms.
